What Is the
Centering Module?

What You Will Learn

During the MER Centering Training, you will learn how to:

The Centering module is one of the core modules of the MER Professional Training pathway.

This module focuses on the pelvis and core as the body’s center of gravity, movement and support. In MER, the pelvis is not approached as an isolated structure. It is understood as a key meeting point between the lower body, spine, breath, abdomen, pelvic floor and emotional life.

Through deep bodywork, myofascial release, movement, body reading, pelvic assessment and somatic awareness, you will learn how to recognize pelvic holding patterns and support greater integration through the whole body.

The Centering module gives practitioners a deeper understanding of how the pelvis influences posture, breath, stability, mobility and emotional expression.

  • Assess pelvic imbalances through body reading, palpation, tracking and structural observation.

  • Work with the pelvis, core, psoas, pelvic floor and abdominal structures through deep, sensitive touch.

  • Understand the role of the pelvis as a keystone of structural balance and whole-body integration.

  • Use myofascial release techniques to support tissue release and pelvic alignment.

  • Explore myofascial dialoguing as a way to connect with unconscious mental and emotional restrictions.

  • Work with key anatomical structures, including the gluteus maximus, gluteus medius, gluteus minimus, deep lateral rotators, abductors, adductors and iliopsoas.

  • Understand how emotional holding patterns can influence posture, breath and pelvic balance.

  • Explore the connection between the pelvis, heart, diaphragm and breath.

  • Use breath and body awareness to support integration throughout the body.

  • Create complete treatment sessions focused on core integration, pelvic balance and grounded presence.

A Holistic Approach &
Skill Development

The MER Centering Training combines daily meditation, theoretical instruction, practical demonstrations, supervised bodywork exchanges and personal experience.

You will refine your ability to:

  • Work deeply while respecting the sensitivity of the pelvis and core

  • Use correct body mechanics and practitioner safety

  • Assess pelvic patterns and core restrictions
Work with the psoas, pelvic floor and abdominal structures

  • Integrate touch, breath, movement and somatic awareness

  • Support emotional release with presence and professional boundaries

  • Create complete MER treatment sessions focused on pelvic and core integration

By the end of the training, you will have a clearer understanding of the pelvic region’s role in structural balance, breath, grounding and emotional integration.

Pelvic Assessment and Alignment

The Centering module teaches you how to evaluate pelvic patterns through a combination of body reading, palpation, tracking, movement observation and client awareness.

You will learn to recognize how the pelvis organizes itself in relation to the legs, spine, abdomen, breath and upper body. This helps you understand not only where restriction appears, but how the whole structure compensates around it.

Through precise myofascial release and deep bodywork, you will explore ways to support tissue release, pelvic alignment and more integrated movement.

Deep Core and Psoas Work

The psoas and deep core structures play an important role in posture, breath, movement and inner support.

In this module, you will explore the 𝗽𝘀𝗼𝗮𝘀 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘅, the pelvic floor, abdominal muscles and surrounding fascial structures.

You will learn how these areas relate to breathing, walking, stability, emotional holding and whole-body organization. The work is practical, precise and deeply respectful of the sensitivity of the pelvic region.

Myofascial Dialoguing and Emotional Integration

The Centering module introduces myofascial dialoguing as a way to support awareness and release of unconscious holding patterns.

Rather than forcing change, MER teaches practitioners to listen to the body and communicate with sensitivity. This approach helps clients become more aware of how physical patterns may relate to emotional protection, beliefs, habits and life experiences.

The goal is to support emotional release, self-regulation and deeper body awareness within a grounded, professional and safe bodywork session.

Pelvis, Breath & Heart Connection

In MER, the pelvis is closely related to breath, grounding and the heart.

This module explores how unresolved emotional issues, protective patterns or chronic tension may influence posture and create holding patterns between the pelvis and heart.

You will learn how breath exercises, deep touch and body awareness can support integration between the lower body, core, diaphragm and chest, helping the whole body reorganise with more ease.

Who is this training for?

The MER Centering Training is suitable for:

  • Massage therapists who want to deepen their work with the pelvis and core

  • Bodyworkers looking for advanced myofascial release techniques

  • Somatic practitioners interested in the connection between structure and emotion

  • Yoga teachers and movement professionals who want to understand pelvic patterns

  • Breathworkers who want to explore the relationship between breath, psoas and pelvis

  • Trauma-informed practitioners who want to work with grounding and emotional holding through the body

  • People beginning a professional path in MER and fascia therapy

This module can be taken as part of the full MER Certification pathway or as a powerful standalone training experience.

Why it matters?

The pelvis is one of the most important centers of the body.

It supports walking, breathing, grounding, balance, sexuality, digestion, posture and emotional expression. When the pelvis holds chronic tension or protection, the whole body may adapt around it.

The Centering module teaches you how to work with this central area through depth, sensitivity and precision.

When the pelvis finds more ease, the whole body can find more balance.
