What Is the
Grounding Module?

What You Will Learn

During the MER Grounding Training, you will learn how to:

The Grounding module is one of the core modules of the MER Professional Training pathway.

This module focuses on the lower body: the feet, legs, knees and hips. These areas form the foundation of posture, balance, walking, movement and physical confidence.

When the feet, legs or hips hold chronic tension or restriction, the whole body can compensate. MER Grounding teaches practitioners how to assess and work with these patterns through deep touch, joint mobilization, fascia release, assisted stretches, body reading and somatic awareness.

Through this module, you learn how to support clients in reconnecting with their base, improving mobility and developing a stronger sense of physical grounding.

  • Work with the feet, legs, knees and hips through deep bodywork and myofascial release.

  • Use joint mobilization techniques to support natural movement and lower-body integration.

  • Assess common pain and mobility patterns in the feet, knees and hips.

  • Develop stronger palpation skills and body-reading capabilities.

  • Work effectively with the plantar fascia using precise MER tools and techniques.

  • Apply assisted stretches for the feet, legs and hips to enhance deep bodywork.

  • Understand the posterior line of the leg and how it connects the lower body with the pelvis and spine.

  • Work with key muscular structures including the gluteus medius and minimus, tensor fasciae latae, tibialis anterior, hamstrings, adductors, abductors and quadriceps.

  • Use body mechanics to work deeply without strain.

  • Support grounding, stability and energetic contact through the feet and legs.

Deep Bodywork and
Joint Mobilization

The Grounding module introduces extensive methods for working with the lower extremities.

You will begin with the posterior line of the leg and gradually expand your work into the feet, knees, hips and pelvis. This approach helps you understand how restrictions in one area can influence the whole lower-body structure.

The training combines deep bodywork, fascia release and joint mobilization so that practitioners learn to work not only with muscle tension, but also with movement limitation, structural compensation and fascial restriction.

The Grounding module combines daily meditations, theoretical instruction, practical demonstrations and supervised bodywork exchanges.

You will refine your ability to:

  • Work deeply while protecting your own body

  • Use correct body mechanics

  • Read the structure of the feet and legs

  • Track changes in the body during a session

  • Integrate fascia work with joint mobilization

  • Create complete lower-body treatment sessions

  • Support grounding through touch, movement and awareness

By the end of the training, you will have more confidence and sensitivity when working with persistent pain and structural dysfunction in the feet, knees and hips.

Skill Development and Integration

Somatic Dialoguing and the Psychology of Pain

Pain is not only mechanical. It can also be connected with protection, fear, posture, habit and emotional memory.

In this module, you will learn how to use somatic dialoguing to communicate with clients in a way that supports awareness, safety and integration.

This helps clients understand their own patterns more clearly and participate more actively in their bodywork process.

Myth Debunking and Structural Insights

The Grounding module also addresses common misconceptions around lower-body pain, especially in the knees and hips.

Rather than seeing pain only as a local problem, MER looks at the whole body system: fascia, joints, breath, posture, movement habits and emotional holding.

You will explore new ways of understanding arthritic knees, hip restriction, foot pain and structural imbalance — with a practical, body-based approach that supports mobility, awareness and self-responsibility.

Who is this training for?

The MER Grounding Training is suitable for:

  • Massage therapists who want to deepen their work with fascia and lower-body pain

  • Bodyworkers looking for advanced techniques for the feet, legs and hips

  • Somatic practitioners interested in grounding, movement and body awareness

  • Yoga teachers and movement professionals who want to understand lower-body patterns

  • Breathworkers and trauma-informed practitioners who want to integrate body-based grounding

  • Practitioners who want to improve their assessment and palpation skills

  • People beginning a professional path in MER and fascia therapy

This module can be taken as part of the full MER certification pathway or as a powerful standalone training experience.

Why it matters?

The feet, legs and hips are the body’s foundation.

They carry weight, support movement, create stability and influence how the entire body organizes itself. When this foundation is restricted, the effects can appear in the knees, pelvis, spine, breath and overall posture.

The Grounding module teaches you how to work with this foundation in a precise, sensitive and holistic way.

When the foundation releases, the whole body can find more freedom.
